| View in browser JUNE 2026 NEWSLETTER Hello all,   It’s hard to believe we are heading into June with three great events behind us and three more excellent events planned for July, September and November - our aim is always to bring insights from various areas of the sector to expand knowledge and to interest those in the sector and those who aspire to work in the sector.   Enjoy a wrap-up of some of the events we have held, and check out those coming up, where we hope to see you meet our speakers and network with colleagues.   Jill Scanlon attended the Women Deliver conference in Melbourne as a Media representative – check out her blog, which brings some of the excitement and colour from what was a fantastic event for women from all over the world.   WE also thank Maya McGain for her great work as Volunteer Coordinator over the past 15 months – Maya has a full-time role now, so it's time for her to move into the sector with a bright future ahead. Will you be our next Volunteer Coordinator?? Check our website for details. If you have been a participant in our mentoring program as a mentor or mentee, You will have just received a request for some feedback - this is vital we need to have this to enable us to apply for DGR status - your feedback could make a huge difference and enable us to establish a paid role to manage Women in Aid & Development and we cannot do this without reliable income from grants, donations and gifts. Please complete the short survey so we can ensure the sustainability of WiAD over the long term.   Many thanks,  Chris Franks - WiAD Chair Recap of our IWD ONLINE Event   This year, the UN Women theme for IWD was Balance the Scales, to ensure fair, inclusive, and accessible justice for every woman and girl in the world.   Our first event for the year was ONLINE, and in celebration of International Women's Day. We were delighted to present an international group of speakers who work in some of the most challenging areas of the world on International Women's Day.   Thank you to Noor Azizah: Co-Executive Director, Rohingya Maìyafuìnor Collaborative Network (RMCN); Jules Frost: Chief Executive Officer, Hagar International and Debbie Stothard: Co-ordinator & Founder, ALTSEAN - three brilliant speakers.   WiAD Board Director, Jill Scanlon, shared a recap of the event. You can read it here.   Don’t worry if you missed the event; you can also watch the recording below! Watch the recording here Joint Event with Mary MacKillop Today   Mary MacKillop Today and WiAD hosted a powerful conversation on climate justice in the Pacific.  It was an insightful discussion with an outstanding panel of speakers from the Pacific and ChildFund who together illuminated the important issue of women, gender, and climate for everyone present. The room was marked by a strong sense of connection and shared purpose, with stories that were both personal and globally significant.   Special Thanks to our speakers Sera Osborne from Psychiatric Survivors Association, Fiji, Sainiana Rokovukago from Caritas Fiji, Sophie Jenkins of Childfund and facilitator Jane Sloane, Director of Mary MacKillop Today, who expertly guided the conversation, highlighting that “it is really important to hear Pacific women’s voices at this time and to really speak to their lived experience.”   A huge thank you to attendees, all of our amazing speakers, Mary MacKillop Today and Pitcher Partners for hosting us. Watch the event recording here Recap of our May 2026 Melbourne Networking Event    Our May networking event took place in Melbourne, where we gathered for a meaningful evening of discussion, interaction and exploration of what we mean when we say gender and climate justice and the intersections and ultimate impacts of those two elements. There was some great networking pre and post, and valuable sharing of insights and experiences. A special thanks to our guest speaker, Anila Schroers, Interim Head of Quality & Impact at Oxfam Australia, and WiAD’s Jill Scanlon for facilitating such a fantastic conversation.   Women in Aid & Development delivers top-quality speakers and events, so please bring your colleagues to the next one. Watch the event recording here WiAD is grateful to our speakers who generously give their time to share knowledge and expertise with our members and supporters. We recognise their contribution with the exclusive WiAD mug - if you see one of these on a desk, you know you are talking to a leader in the sector who is supporting other women to succeed in their careers, to become the best versions of themselves and in sharing how to embrace challenges and opportunities. Our speakers are Women who are helping other Women to have a significant and positive impact on our world. We thank them sincerely.  ACFID Trainings   Introduction to the International Development and Humanitarian Sector Workshops – Brisbane, Adelaide and Online   The peak body for Australian NGOs in international development, Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), is hosting a series of Introduction to the International Development and Humanitarian Sector Workshops in the coming months.
